ANDY IRONS VINCE IL RIP CURL PRO IN CILE

Hawaiian Andy Irons (Hanalei, Kauai) (pictured left, in red) captured the Rip Curl Pro Search title at Ex-Isla Alacran in Arica, Chile today making it back to back wins for the three times ASP world champion. Irons, who won the 2006 edition of the event in Huatulco, Mexico, beat Damien Hobgood (florida, USA) in the final.

 

Irons jumped from seventh to third on the Fosters ASP World Tour ratings with Hobgood now placed runner-up to ratings leader Australian Mick Fanning who finished equal third in the event.

 

The Rip Curl Pro Search is the fourth event, of ten, on the Fosters ASP World Tour and features the top 45 surfers in the world. The next event, the Billabong Pro, takes place at Jeffrey’s Bay in South Africa from July 11-22.
