Motion of the Ocean Surf Shop is pleased to present “Fly Away Home,” a show of work by Meegan Feori. Visually articulating the soul of Southern Californian Surf Culture the work of Meegan Feori renders crystallized images of the fleeting moments that surfers seek. Though the work represents surfing, it is not exclusive to surfing. The work of Meegan Feori transcends the act of surfing becoming a visual representation of human emotion and experience.
The pieces range from paintings Meegan created while attending University of California, San Diego, during her travels in Costa Rica, and those produced this past summer and early fall at home in San Diego. While the collection of work on display represents several years of work, Meegan’s consistent figural style is complimented by her continuous exploration of material and alternative techniques. According to Meegan, “Surfing and art-making give me purpose. Each challenges me to grow and rewards me for my efforts.”
Meegan Feori’s visions are memories of moments. Her images convey the significance of surfing and its surrounding culture and lifestyle. Meegan was selected this year to be a part of Billabong Girls’ See Me Speak group exhibition in New York. She will also have work on display at the Rob Machado Surf Classic at Cardiff, Ca and the Women’s Longboard Championships at Ocean Beach San Diego, Ca.
