2006 ISA "SURFING BOOK LIBRARY"
Comunicato Ufficiale ISA:
2006 ISA SURFING LIBRARY
The ISA is proud to announce the completion of phase one of our Surfing Library. In our effort to provide valuable guidelines and information about surfing, we received generous donations of surfing publications from various publishers. We now have accumulated a tremendous collection of books about surfing. One set of books will be sent to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Sports Library while the other will be available for internal use. A link to the list of our library is available below. The list will be updated as we receive more publications.
The International Surfing Association (ISA) originally founded in 1964 as International Surfing Federation (ISF), has been running world championships since 1964 and the Junior World Championships since 1980. During this time, the ISA has governed the sport, standardized judging and coaching practices, expanded membership and brought surfing to new destinations around the world.
ISA membership includes the surfing National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of over 50 countries on six continents. Its headquarters are located in San Diego, California. It is presided by Fernando Aguerre, first elected in 1994 in Rio, and re-elected five times since. The ISA’s four Vice Presidents are from South Africa, Australia, Hawaii and the USA.
In March of 1995 the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recognized the ISA as the worldwide authority for surfing and all other waveriding sports. One of the ISA’s current goals is working towards the inclusion in the Olympic Games.--
